If you notice a loss of print quality, it could be a sign that your printhead needs replacing. Unfortunately, it could also be a sign that your printhead needs cleaning.

How do you know what's needed? It's simple: clean the printhead first. Your printing system might simply be clogged and need a thorough cleaning. Try using the printer's utilities first, such as nozzle cleaning and printhead alignment. Run one or two cleaning cycles to remove any dried ink. If you've done this and still don't see any improvement, the next step is to perform a manual printhead cleaning. These two steps should resolve most printhead issues, but if they don't, it's probably time to replace your printhead.
