How does the sublimation process work?
- Using an inkjet printer, the image or logo is printed onto a special paper adapted for sublimation. This is called transfer paper. The inks are also specific to sublimation: Sublijet ink for sublimation on polyester objects and textiles, and Chromablast ink for cotton textiles.
- Using a heat press, under the effect of heat (180-200°C) and pressure, the ink vaporizes and penetrates directly into the fabric or the polyester coating of hard surfaces. The projected ink cools upon contact with the transfer paper and solidifies again. The image literally penetrates the surface of the item, resulting in a product with a perfectly smooth feel and high-quality image definition.
This means the image becomes an integral part of the product and is not simply applied to it. Sublimation is the simplest and most effective process for applying high-quality photos or images to a wide variety of objects.
