Are you new to the DTF printing process? That's normal, the process itself is recent, dating back to around 2020. Here are some basic things to know about direct-to-fabric (DTF) printing.
- As its name suggests, DTF printing consists of printing an image on a film, then transferring this image onto a fabric using a heat press.
- The films used in the DTF process allow the transfer film to be safely removed from the hot pressing stage a few moments later, after the pressed image has cooled (cold peel).
- DTF printing is also faster than DTG printing when printing multiple copies.
- DTF prints offer sharper and more vivid details because the images are printed on a film rather than on fabric.
- Software is a key component of the DTF printing process. Software can control elements such as print characteristics, ink color performance, and image dimensions—factors that contribute to optimal print results.
- The DTF printing process is easy to learn and does not require highly skilled operators.
