💡 Expert Advice

Always perform a preliminary test on a scrap of fabric. Press thermostats can vary by a few degrees depending on the brand.

Recommended settings by fiber type

🧵 Cotton

  • Heat: 150°C - 160°C
  • Time: 12-15 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium
  • ✨ Pre-press for 5 seconds to expel moisture.

👕 Polyester

  • Heat: 120°C - 140°C
  • Time: 12-15 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium to firm
  • ✨ Beware of color migration!

🏃 Lycra / Spandex

  • Heat: 150°C - 160°C
  • Time: 10-12 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium
  • ✨ Do not over-press to maintain elasticity.

🧴 Velvet / Textured

  • Heat: 150°C - 160°C
  • Time: 12-15 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium
  • ✨ Avoid crushing the texture.

Polyester 120°C - 140°C 12-15 s Farm
Cotton/Polyester Mix 145°C 12-15 s Average
Synthetics 145°C (test required) 10 s + Average
Sport/Stretch Textiles 150°C - 160°C 10 s + Average

✅ The 4 Commandments of DTF Pressing

  • Removing moisture: Pre-pressing is non-negotiable, especially for cotton and natural fibers.
  • Premium Quality: Use only certified DTF films and powders to guarantee longevity.
  • Work surface: Check the flatness of your lower plate for even pressure.
  • Cooling: Respect the type of peel of your film (Cold or Hot Peel).

💬 Frequently Asked Questions about DTF Pressing

Should the DTF film be peeled while hot or cold?
This depends entirely on your PET film. Some are "Hot Peel" (immediate peel when hot) and others are "Cold Peel" (wait for complete cooling). Always check the technical specifications of your consumable to avoid damaging the design.
Why isn't my DTF transfer sticking well to the fabric?
The main causes are: insufficient pressure , a still damp textile (think of pre-pressing!) or a temperature that was too low which did not allow the adhesive powder to melt properly into the fibers.
Does DTF require a second pressing?
Yes, it's highly recommended! After removing the film, perform a "post-press" for 5 to 10 seconds with a finishing sheet (Teflon or silicone paper). This improves the feel of the product and significantly increases its wash resistance.
