Why is my DTF cracking?
Causes & Solutions to Prevent Cracks
A professional DTF print should be flexible and elastic. If your transfer cracks, it's a sign of a technical imbalance.
⚠ Diagnosis: Don't let cracks ruin your sales
The 3 enemies of DTF flexibility
1. Overcooking 🔥
Excessive heat burns the adhesive powder, making it brittle like glass instead of remaining flexible.
2. Humidity 💧
Water trapped in the textile or powder creates micro-bubbles that weaken the pattern structure.
3. Too Much Ink 🎨
An ink layer that is too thick prevents the powder from penetrating to the film, creating an internal separation.
Quick troubleshooting chart
| Symptom | Probable cause | Créadhésif Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cracks after washing | Excessive heat (Burned powder) | Reduce the temperature by 5°C |
| Cracking under stretching | Ink overload | Optimize the ICC profile |
| Direct microcracks | Unstable PET film | Switch to Premium PET Film |
| Edges that break | Uneven pressure | Check the press platen |
Checklist: 0 cracks, 100% elasticity
- ✔ Garment preheating (3-5 sec)
- ✔ Store in a dry place (RH < 50%)
- ✔ Use of high-flexibility inks
- ✔ Complete cooling before peeling
- ✔ Second pressing with finishing sheet
FAQ – Everything you need to know about DTF resistance
How many washes can a DTF print withstand?
A DTF transfer applied with Créadhésif consumables withstands more than 50 washes at 40°C without any cracking, provided the garment is washed inside out.
Is DTF suitable for stretch sportswear?
Yes, but it requires special attention. Use a highly elastic hot melt powder and make sure the temperature does not exceed 150°C to avoid stiffening the design.
Need indestructible transfers?
Stop wasting time with uncertain settings. Our ready-to-use DTF transfers are lab-tested to guarantee maximum elasticity.
